Her christening and naming ceremony events were held at MSC Cruises’ private island in the Bahamas, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. The third ship in the Seaside class, the MSC Seashore, was just christened on November 18.

All-in-all a good value, enjoyable - if slightly too brief - experience on the MSC Seashore.MSC Cruises’ growth continues, and this includes bringing its newest ships to the U.S. Cabins were absolutely fine, bed was comfortable and en-suite facilities were good. The buffet and sit-down restaurant offered a perfectly acceptable dining experience, so nothing to report there. The layout of the public areas is good – spaced out and less claustrophobic than ships like the MSC Virtuosa, where everything is located along the indoor promenade. The bars are similar to those on the MSC Seaview, great sports bar (with pub games such as pinball and pool), and lots of outdoor areas (I believe that it was designed for the constantly warm Caribbean market). Not sure how many guests were on the Seashore, but it didn’t feel at all busy, and we never had to wait to get served. We had the easy drinks package, which was actually quite comprehensive, and depending on your taste, might prove better value than the premium package (unless you are planning on eating at the speciality restaurants). The best (and possibly the cheapest) method is to get an Uber, or to use the official on-airport taxi company (personal I would avoid the airport transfer websites as they were looking to charge 100 Euros, whereas an Uber was 1/3 of that price). One thing Marseilles does lack is an affordable way to get directly to the cruise port from the airport (13 miles). Very few were embarking that day, so it was significantly easier than the busier embarkation ports of Barcelona or Genoa. We embarked in Marseilles, which was quick, easy, and stress-free. We only spent one night on the Seashore, but it was a pleasant experience overall. All in all we had an enjoyable week with our family, but MSC never again for us.… When asked where to leave feedback, I was told by front office to wait until after the cruise for an e-mail from MSC where i could share my experiences. Cruise director flipped and went on a public rant via the microphone towards people leaving the show early, super awkward (and very rude). Music in lounges and shows is off key, not nearly as good as what you’d see at ClubMed, Disney or other cruise lines. Water and ice cubes are the only thing available 24/7, if there’s anything extra you want, make sure to pay ridiculous prices (4 eur for 1 scoop of ice cream or a softdrink, 9eur for a game of pool, are you serious?! it almost feels like theft to be quite honest). A little less important but slightly annoying literally everything is at additional charge on board this ship.

Friendly staff but dirty plates and awful food! Buffets are slightly better but always overcooked and so incredibly crowded that there is actually no good time to go there: tables are always full and the space is not cleaned (the toilets are so incredibly dirty that it’s really not unhygienic).

The food…my goodness worse than airline food is the best way to describe what is served in the Manhattan restaurant. This is most notable with hosts, at front desk, bars, buffet restaurants and excursion staff (we saw people waiting in line for a bus service from the ship to Ibiza city for more than 1 hour - staff being completely uninterested and unapologetic about this horrible service). At MSC Seashore i was greeted spontaneously by staff twice(!) in 7 days time. In comparison: at HAL and Carnival you are greeted all the times by staff members you meet in coridors and public spaces, people smile all the time and seem to enjoy what they are doing. No hospitality mindset to be found on board this ship. It seems like a total lack of training, procedures and/or lack of drive by staff for making guests feel comfortable. But…In general the service of MSC is extremely unorganized and very impolite (at times rude even). let’s start with the good news: suites are good and clean cabin steward friendly. This is our 3rd cruise, our first in Europe with MSC. MSC Cruises to Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur.
